Creating video games is an art form. It's time for us to organize as our union siblings in other mediums have done before us. No longer must we sacrifice a healthy, substainable living and pay the passion tax in exchange for working on the projects we love.
This is a historic time for the games industry. All eyes are on us to pave the road forward to a brighter industry with better worker's rights.
After we won our union at Sega, CWA invited me to speak with President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders. They were deeply moved by our efforts in this relatively new industry, calling it a second wave of unionization. The privilege to discuss the future of our workplace with the President could not have been possible without the overwhelming power of hundreds of thousands of CWA members and the power we built at our workplace at Sega.
